Pelosi Meltdown

By now you may have seen the trending hashtag, “#PelosiMeltdown” on Twitter. However, the origin of the hashtag was started by none other than vapid Twitter user and current President of the United States, Donald Trump. If you click on the hashtag, you will see a photo of House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi standing up, yelling at Trump in a room full of other men.

President Trump tweeted out this photo of Pelosi on Wednesday with the caption, “Nervous Nancy’s unhinged meltdown!”. Creative nickname right? Sounds like a made up Dr. Seuss character to me, no offense to Dr. Seuss.

Besides all the creative nicknames, Donald Trump was implying that because Nancy Pelosi is standing up yelling, that she was having an, “unhinged meltdown”. So, naturally, all of Twitter took it upon themselves to create the hashtag, #PelosiMeltdown, to talk about their different outtakes of what this photo actually means. Some said it looks like a mom telling off her bratty son, others said she is standing up to him and that “we” need to be “more like Nancy”, and some even said it will be in the history books.

But nobody had as good of a response to this tweet than none other than Nancy Pelosi herself. Twitter user, David Leavitt, posted a screenshot of Pelosi’s account, pointing out that she had made this iconic picture her Twitter profile cover photo.

After word of her cover photo got around Twitter, many people began to respond with posts applauding her “Clap-back” to President Trumps tweets. Some, stuck by President Trumps side claiming it was, unprovoked and irrational behavior, and that it proves the stigma that women are too emotional to be in a position of power.

My Opinion:

Using the image as her new cover photo was a bold move. Even the image itself was bold. She is the only woman in the room — literally the only one standing up to all those men — INCLUDING the President of the United States. If this is what a “meltdown” looks like, then go ahead and meltdown Nancy. I think we can all deal with the fallout.
